Villefranche-sur-mer

After morning classes in which students learned some useful expression while shopping, they were sent off into the wild that is Place Messena to practice their French on a real, live French person! They were asked to shop and possibly buy something using the expressions they'd learned, but they had to record the conversation as proof!  Cyril and Pauline are tricky that way...

After lunch, we headed to the train station for our first mini excursion to Villfranche-sur-mer, a lovely little city not far from Nice.

However, we were dealt our first bitter taste of the French transport system- our train was canceled with no warning and no announcement.  It just didn't come.  The students didn't seem to mind that much.  What troopers!

But it was all worth it.  A sand beach and a sun-drenched, stunning coastline greeted us.  Just perfection!

Then it was time for our snorkeling adventure!  Our two guides, Bastion and Jeremy, were so kind to us and they made our two hour excursion fun and safe.  Getting that wet suit on was no easy task, let me tell you.  But, it was clearly worth it.  Look!

And while having salt water go up one's nose is not ideal either, the little fishes, especially the multi-colored ones, were just striking to look at in their natural habitat.  Incroyable!

To finish off our incredible day, we went to Cours Saleya and participated in what can only be described as a street dance party.  Some of our students were reluctant to move to the groove, but we got most of them in the end.

Bonne nuit!
